Sutton Amateur Dramatic Club presents this production.

Banish the blues this March with SADC’s next production, Oscar Wilde’s madcap farce about mistaken identities, secret engagements and lovers’ entanglements. This famous comedy, with its rapid-fire wit and eccentric characters, still delights audiences around the world more than 125 years since its first performance.

Gwendolen Fairfax and Cecily Cardew are both in love with the same non-existent suitor. Jack Worthing has wooed Gwendolen, who thinks his name is Ernest, while Algernon Moncrieff has also posed as Ernest to win the heart of Jack’s ward, Cecily. Pandemonium breaks loose when all four arrive for the weekend at Jack’s country home: the rivals fight for Ernest’s undivided attention and the “Ernests” claim their beloveds. Only a senile nursemaid and an old, discarded hand-bag can save the day!
