“We were very sorry to hear of the sad passing of former Councillor Christine Long.

Chris was a much-loved Residents Association Councillor who served Epsom & Ewell Borough Council for 16 years. She was a valued Ward Councillor in Auriol Ward from 1999 to 2015, alongside being involved in a wide range of Committees, Groups and Advisory Panels at the council, and representing the council at other organisations. She was Chair of the Scrutiny Committee from 2000-2003 and the Social Committee from 2007-2010, as well as being involved in the Environment, Leisure, and Strategy & Resources Committees amongst others during her time as Councillor.

From May 2012-May 2013, Chris was our elected Mayor, and carried out a huge range of community engagements, charity fundraising and activities during this time. She was also heavily involved with the church, the Rotary Club and was a member of the Surrey Mayor’s Association. 

We know Chris will be much missed and we send our deepest condolences to her family and friends.”
