During the autumn period many roads suffer from almost a continual fall of leaves. We have a duty to clear leaves but priority has to be given to:
- Areas of high pedestrian use
- Road junctions
- Roads with hills.
Many of these areas will require repeated visits. We will get round to other roads, but unfortunately it is not practical to have all roads at the same priority level.
Please do not add to workloads by blowing leaves from your property onto the Highway. Fallen leaves belong to whoever owns the land they naturally fall onto and that land owner is required to dispose of leaves responsibly. Blowing leaves on to the Highway is unlawful and adds to the risk of accident or injury to pedestrians and vehicles.
Garden leaves can be composted - recycling at home put in to your garden waste bin - fortnightly garden waste recycling service or can be taken to Surrey County Council controlled Civic Amenity Site (the Tip)
