A key document within the Epsom & Ewell Borough Council Planning process is the ‘Statement of Community Involvement’. This sets out how local residents, organisations, businesses and others can become involved in both planning policy and responding to planning applications.
The document now requires updating to follow the latest central government guidance as well as changes necessitated by the ongoing pandemic.
Councillor David Reeve, Chair of the Licensing & Planning Policy Committee, said “This next year is going to be an important period for the development of the borough, with the new local plan taking shape.
“It is crucial that the local community knows that their views are being considered when difficult decisions are being taken. The Statement on Community Involvement lays out transparently how our community can shape the local plan and make their views known on planning applications as well as other planning processes”.

Councillor David Reeve added “It is important that that residents’ input into this document before we start the major engagement for the local plan.
“We are therefore also keen to receive thoughts about whether and how the document can be improved or refined”.
