Epsom & Ewell Borough Council Suicide Prevention Action Plan Walk & Talk Event

Epsom & Ewell Borough Council has identified the mental and emotional wellbeing of the residents as one of its key priorities. Our Suicide Prevention Action Plan aims to raise awareness of mental health issues and highlight the support available to people both suffering from mental health challenges or those directly impacted by the loss of someone to suicide.

Working with partners is an essential part of our Plan and we’re continuing to work with a number of them to rollout our events.

Epsom & Ewell Walk & Talk on World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September

This is the first of the events being rolled out as part of the Plan and has been designed to coincide with World Suicide Prevention Day.

Funding has been allocated from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to We Power On whose founder will lead the walk and talk for adults aged 18 and above. End Stigma Surrey, dedicated to raising awareness and reducing the stigma of mental health, are also supporting this event.

We Power On will host the walk across Epsom Downs and immediately afterwards Epsom & Ewell Borough Council will host another event at The Jockey Club who kindly offered to host this event. A scribe will create artwork which will go on a ‘tour’ of the borough and end up at the Epsom Picturehouse.

Residents and organisations need to register to attend

Fifty spaces are available for the walk and talk across Epsom Downs and a further 50 spaces are available for those who only wish to attend the talk.
