Epsom & Ewell Borough Council has launched a public consultation on its Draft Local Plan. The Consultation will run from Wednesday 1 February – Wednesday 15 March and all those who live, work, visit or study in the borough are urged to give their views.
Epsom & Ewell’s Local Plan will set the vision and framework for future development in the borough up to 2040. It focuses on supporting businesses, creating jobs, infrastructure improvements, environmental protection and leisure development, alongside sites for new homes including affordable accommodation.
It is really important that these big decisions are informed by the borough’s residents, businesses, stakeholders and visitors. The public consultation is a formal part of the process in developing a Local Plan, known as Regulation 18, and the responses received will be critical in shaping the final Local Plan.
To respond to the consultation and to find out more about the Local Plan, visit www.epsom-ewell.gov.uk/local-plan. Hard copies of the Local Plan are also available to view in the borough’s libraries and there are various local community events planned where Council Officers will be available to answer queries in person.
Cllr Steven McCormick, Chair of the Licensing and Planning Policy Committee, said: “We are very pleased to have launched the Draft Local Plan consultation. We believe the Draft Plan provides a proactive framework for the borough to grow in a strong and positive way, so everyone will have the opportunity to live in an affordable, vibrant area with a growing economy.
“The Draft Local Plan is our starting point and we strongly encourage local people to help shape the final Plan by responding to the consultation. If you are interested in the future of your local area, then the Local Plan is relevant to you – and it is easy to give us your feedback. Just visit the Council’s website or a local library.”
