Application Process

To apply for a road closure order you will need to complete the application for a road closure and declaration.

It is strongly recommended that you read our guidance on Temporary Road Closures before making the application. Please make sure that you have all the documents necessary to support your application ready as you will not be able to complete the application form without these documents. 

You must attach the following documents

  • Plan showing the proposed road closure
  • Consultation notice and response

You may need to attach the following documents

  • Bus company consent
  • Event management plan
  • Traffic management plan
  • Risk assessment
  • Any objections

After we receive your application we will consult with Surrey Police and Surrey County Council (The Highways Authority). Surrey County Council aim to respond within 3 weeks of receipt and it is therefore recommended that you make your application at least 12 weeks’ in advance.

We aim to process your application as soon as possible, but at the minimum at least 14 days prior to the proposed road closure. If your application is approved we will send you a copy of the Road Closure. If your application is rejected then we will let you know the reasons why this is the case.
