Results of the by-election

Following the Ruxley ward by-election held earlier today, the results are as follows:

398 votes

Julia Kirkland
Liberal Democrat
67 votes

Themba Msika
Labour
264 votes

Stephen Pontin
Conservative
340 votes

Alex Coley has duly been elected

Turnout was 23.38%

The council consists 38 seats. This result means the make-up of the Council is unchanged:

  • 31 Residents association
  • 4 Conservative
  • 3 Labour

News release Tuesday 9 January 2018

Due to a change in personal circumstances, Councillor Keith Partridge has resigned as the councillor for Ruxley ward on Epsom & Ewell Borough Council.

The resignation has triggered a by-election.

Ruxley ward in west Ewell has three seats on the Council, at present all three are held by the Residents Association.

The formal election process has now commenced, with the election taking place in half term week on Thursday 15 February.

The formal call for candidates will be issued this week.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

A casual vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for the above Ward following the resignation of Councillor Keith Partridge.

After the required notice of vacancy has been given to me in accordance with Section 89(1)(b) of the Local Government Act, 1972, an election to fill the vacancy will be held within thirty-five days computed in accordance with Section 243 of the said Act.
