Register to Vote
To vote at these elections you must be registered to vote. If you know that you are not registered because you have moved home recently then you can register online via www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. The deadline to register to vote at this election is 19 April 2021. If you want to check if you are registered then you can contact us by e-mail at email@example.com, or phone on 01372 732000.
If you are already registered then you will receive a poll card giving information about polling hours and the address of your polling station soon after 29 March 2021. If you registered to vote after 10 March 2021then your poll card will be sent out around 23 April 2021.
We are working hard to ensure that polling stations will be a safe as possible and we will be implementing Government guidelines regarding cleaning, PPE and social distancing. If you prefer you can apply to have a postal vote or appoint a proxy to vote at the polling station for you. If you are voting in person and with the extra measures that will be in place at stations please allow for enough time if you have to queue. Please wear a mask and bring your own pen or pencil if you can.
Can’t vote in person?
If you are not able to vote in person on 6 May 2021 you can either have a postal vote or appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf.
The deadline for postal vote applications is by no later than 5pm, Tuesday, 20 April 2021.
The deadline to appoint a proxy is by no later than 5pm, Tuesday, 27 April 2021.
Postal votes will be sent out by 1st class post from 19 to 23 April and we expect them to arrive between 21 and 26 April. If you are going on holiday before or close to that date, you may prefer to appoint a proxy.
If after 5pm on 27 April you become unwell, or for work reasons cannot vote in person, the deadline to appoint an emergency proxy is 5pm, Thursday, 6 May. Contact the elections office on 01372 732000 for more information on how to arrange one.
