A care home in Epsom is inviting the local community to its open air festival, featuring a special musical performance.
On Saturday 23rd September from 5.30pm-7.30pm, the Care UK team at Appleby House will open the doors to the care home on Longmead Road for a night at the opera.
Residents and guests will be treated to a special performance in the home’s garden from opera singers Rebecca Burrows, James Schouten and Susan Clarke. The evening will include performances of a number of opera classics, including The Prayer, Caruso and Canto Della Terra, which have been adapted to engage those living with dementia and appeal to all ages.
As well as enjoying the musical entertainment, guests will be able to relax in the home’s garden with a delicious selection of tasty treats and refreshments throughout the evening.
Home manager at Appleby House, Shona Bradbury, said: “We are thrilled to announce our very first open air festival, and are excited to be joined by Rebecca, James and Susan for our opera show. Music can be a powerful reminiscence activity for those living with dementia, and the show has been written to try and encourage this.
“There is already a buzz of excitement here among the residents at the home, and we look forward to welcoming the local community for what promises to be a night to remember. Tickets are available for £5 each, and all of the proceeds will be donated to local dementia charity, Musical Memories.”
Appleby House has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides residential and specialist dementia care, as well as short term respite.
