Fortnightly garden waste and leaves recycling
This is a fortnightly, chargeable service for subscribers only. Leave your bins out for collection in a visible place at the edge of your property by 6.30am on collection day

You can choose from two types of garden waste recycling container. Subscriptions are based on a twelve-month, non-refundable agreement. There is no limit to the number of containers that you can subscribe to.
240-litre wheeled brown bins cost £49.50 each per year, or £45 if paid by Direct Debit.
60-litre reusable sacks cost £12.40 each per year, or £11.20 each if paid by Direct Debit. Sacks are deigned to hold a maximum 10 kilogrammes of waste.
How to join
Download a garden waste recycling leaflet and Direct Debit, or click the service request link to request the service and pay online. You can also pay by cheque at the Town Hall. If doing so, please attach a note clearly stating what the payment is for. Do not post cash.
A discount of 50% is available for recipients of certain means-tested benefits. You must apply for this discount in person at the Town Hall, and provide an original document as proof of benefits.
- Grass cuttings
- Small twigs and branches
- Prunings and clippings
- Flower, plants and weeds
- Straw and hay.
Please don't recycle:
- Branches thicker than three inches (7.5 centimetres)
- Plant pots or other plastics. You can recycle plastics in your black recycling bin
- Soil, stones or ashes
- Fallen fruit or any food, even if grown in your own garden. You can recycle these in your food waste bin.
Renewing your subscription
If you subscribe by Direct Debit you do not need to do anything. We will simply notify you each year that we are collecting a further 12 months' subscription and your service will continue uninterrupted. If you pay by any other method we will contact you in advance when your subscription is due to expire, to ask whether you wish to renew it for a further year.
Who can join the garden waste and leaves recycling service?
All households in the borough can join. If you live in a flat you may wish to consider communal collections where residents share central recycling bins. Please contact us for details. Collections are not available to businesses
What happens to your recycling?
As an alternative to paying for collections you may wish to recycle your garden waste through home composting or at the Community Recycling Centre, Blenheim Road
