Traffic management at the Civic Amenity Site (the tip)
Traffic management for the tip has been improved to ensure that heavy waste vehicles are kept separate from general traffic. Learn about traffic management arrangements at the tip (pdf - 202kb).
What is the Civic Amenity Site and how do I find it?
The Civic Amenity Site is located in Blenheim Road, Epsom, KT19 9AP. It is commonly known as "The Tip" or "The Dump" and it incorporates the Community Recycling Centre.
The site is run by SITA Surrey, on behalf of Surrey County Council, and can be telephoned on 01372 728722.
Visiting the tip by car (without a trailer)
You may be asked to prove that you are a Surrey resident before using the Community Recycling Centre. Please remember to bring a driver's licence, this year's council tax bill or a recent utility bill and have these to hand when you enter the site. Learn more about the Surrey Resident Scheme.
There is no charge for household recycling, household rubbish or small amounts of home improvement waste such as rubble.
However, trade waste and large quantities of home improvement waste (exceeding roughly 25kg) are accepted at a cost.
Visiting the tip with a trailer or by van
You will need a permit number to access any of the tips in Surrey if you drive:
Hazardous wastes
Hazardous wastes such as asbestos, paints, gas bottles, batteries etc can be disposed of safely at this site (information about specific materials can be obtained from SITA Surrey or staff on the site if required).
Recycling
Specialist recycling facilities can be found at this site, including materials too hazardous to be accepted at general recycling centres around the Borough. Learn more about what can be recycled at the Civic Amenity Site.
If you are travelling to the "Tip" to dispose of your waste, please take time to think about what could be recycled while you are there, rather than simply thrown away for landfill disposal.
