Christmas and New Year collections
The Council's bulky waste and furniture collections service will be suspended for two weeks, commencing Monday 22 December and Monday 29 December. Normal collection schedules will re-start on Monday 5 January.
What is a "Bulky Item" of waste?
Bulky items are items of household waste which cannot fit into your wheelie bin due to size or weight. This may include such items as fridges, freezers, washing machines or furniture.
Can my old furniture or electrical items be reused instead of just being thrown away?
The Surrey Reuse Network is a network of charities working with the Surrey Waste Partnership across the county to help recycle and reuse furniture and electrical items.
In Epsom & Ewell, the Vine Project works on behalf of the Surrey Reuse Network to collect good quality furniture and working electrical items from our residents.
For a donation of just £10, the Vine Project will collect a suitable item and donate it to local people in the greatest need.
To enquire about collection call the Vine Project on 020 8685 6640 or email them.
Taking bulky waste to the tip
Bulky items can also be taken to the Civic Amenity Site ('the tip') in Blenheim Road. Individual items may be recycled, depending on type.
If I cannot recycle my bulky waste, can the Council collect it?
The Council can collect bulky waste for a charge. For more details please contact us on 01372 732000 or fill in our online form. Please note:
- Payments made by credit card are subject to a 1.5% charge
- If you wish to pay by cash or cheque in person at the Town Hall, our cashiers office is open weekdays between 10am and 2pm.
Bulky waste collections are made between 6:30am and 5pm. Please ensure that your items are out for collection by 6:30am.
Where appropriate, we may need to provide an individual quote for unusual items or for the collection of large quantities of material. We will arrange to visit you to view the items if necessary.
A 50% discount is available for recipients of certain means-tested benefits. Proof of eligibility will be required.
Garden waste recycling
Individual loads of garden waste can be collected on a recycling-only basis. Again, costs will vary dependent on the amount of waste you wish to dispose of. Please contact us as above.
We may first require each request to be assessed by our Operational Services department. We will not be able to offer a collection service for garden waste unless it is uncontaminated and fully suitable for recycling.
What garden waste can be recycled?
How can I pay?
Payments can be made by debit or credit card by telephoning 01372 732000, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
Alternatively, payments may be made in cash, by cheque or debit/credit card at the cashiers office in the Town Hall, from Monday to Friday between 10am and 2pm.
