The policy team is working on the production of a number of Local Plan documents. Once adopted these will form part of the Development Plan for the borough. Documents are produced in accordance with Government Regulations. Emerging policy documents are a material consideration in the determination of planning applications. The amount of 'weight' given to a document depends on how developed it is.

What is the Local Plan?

A local plan sets out local planning policies and identifies how land is used, determining what will be built where. Adopted local plans provide the framework for development across England. Our planning policies are contained within the Core Strategy and the Development Management Policies Document

Current Consultations

Consultation on our new planning document - Your involvement in Planning

We adopted our Statement of Community Involvement in 2006. Over the last 10 years there has been considerable change to planning legislation, the use of social media and electronic communication. It is therefore timely to update the document, its requirements and procedures.

Our new document is called Your involvement in Planning and aims to set out how you can become involved in both the planning policy and development management (planning applications) processes.

We would welcome any comments that you may have on this document. Please email them to LDF@epsom-ewell.gov.uk by 5 pm on 28 October 2016.

Documents Under Production

 Site Allocations Document

Public consultation on the Pre-Submission Site Allocations Policies Document ran from Monday 2 November until Monday 14 December 2015. This is the final stage of consultation on this document before it is submitted to the Secretary of State for Examination.

Sustainable Design Supplementary Planning Document (SPD)

Consultation on the Draft Sustainable Design SPD ran from Monday 2 November until Monday 14 December 2015. The Council will consider the comments received prior to adopting the final document. The document can be viewed via the Council's Consultation Portal
