Why should I become more active?
Physical activity and sport can improve your mood, give you more energy and help keep your heart and body healthy.
I have never really been active...
It's never too late to start being more active. Your health risks will decrease as soon as you start to become active!
How much do I need to do?
The latest guidelines recommend 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity on five or more days of the week for adults. Children are advised to do 60 minutes of moderate activity daily. Monitoring how much you are doing is important so that you can make sure you're getting the health benefits; whilst ensuring you are not doing too much too soon.
I don't have 30 minutes of spare time!
Here are some tips: Try and split the time up into three 10 minute intervals, replace the bus/car/train with a bicycle or walk, get your friends/family to get active with you. The more activity you do, the more energetic you will feel. Once you have more energy you will find it easier to fit more into each day.
