Outreach Support for rough sleeping and those at risk of rough sleeping.
East Surrey Outreach Support Service (eSOS) is managed by Stonham (part of Homegroup) to provide help & support to those rough sleeping and those at risk of rough sleeping. eSOS are an East Surrey based service for those with a local established connection to Mole Valley, Epsom and Ewell, Tandridge and Reigate and Banstead. Those without an East Surrey connection will be re-connected back to their home area so they will not have to rough sleep and put themselves at risk.
e.S.O.S may be able to refer rough sleepers to supported housing if they have a local connection to East Surrey.
What does e.S.O.S offer?
eSOS can offer support & advice for people who are sleeping rough, or whose home is very insecure or temporary, so that they can find a more suitable place to live. eSOS does this by supporting clients to engage with services such as SADAS, ACORN, CMHRS, PROBATION and more. eSos supports clients at first with attending these appointments as some times our clients need help to explain their individual issues and needs.
- Esos can offer one-to-one support for people who have had a history of sleeping rough and need
- Help and advice to gain control of their lives and break the cycle of rough sleeping.
- An individual resettlement or support plan worked out and agreed with each person to meet their needs
We will work with entrenched rough sleepers and complex need clients to ensure that the negative cycle of rough sleeping is broken.
e.S.O.S can help if:
- You are sleeping rough in or around East Surrey
- You are at risk of rough sleeping
- You have a home but have had a recent history of rough sleeping
- Are aged 18 or over
If you think that you would benefit from working with eSOS you can be referred by any services you are already working with, such as:
- Social Services
- Community Mental Health Services
- SADAS Community Drug and Alcohol Services
- East Surrey Borough Councils
- GP or Consultant

Severe Cold Weather Provision (SWEP)
The Council does not always have a duty to re-house single homeless people. However, we are able to give them advice on alternative housing options and we can try to help them access night shelters or emergency accommodation.Click here for details of Hostels and Nightshelters (pdf - 722kb)
In periods of severe cold weather, no one needs to sleep rough and the Council or eSOS can organise a placement at a winter watch project, night shelter or emergency accommodation. In addition people may be able to access LeatherHEAD START or use the facilities at Pitstop or the Living Room at Epsom Baptist Church.

Alternatively if you are concerned about a Rough Sleeper this can be reported to StreetLink. StreetLink is a website that enables the public to alert local authorities about rough sleepers in their area. The service offers the public a means to act when they see someone sleeping rough and is the first step someone can take to ensure rough sleepers are connected to the local services and support available to them. This information will be passed on to local Housing Authority and we will respond within 48 hours and provide feedback to anyone reporting a rough sleeper.
